Study to become a teacher

In the Northern Territory, you can study to become a teacher at two tertiary institutions. Charles Darwin University offers a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning.

Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education offers a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and a Bachelor of Education (Primary) as well as a Graduate Certificate of Indigenous Education.

Teacher Education Scholarships

The Teacher Education Scholarship Program of the NT Department of Education is a key initiative designed to recruit quality teachers. It is an opportunity for you to gain significant financial support to help you achieve your teaching qualification. The Teacher Education Scholarship will support teacher education students to commence and complete a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning, Double Bachelor in a teacher education program or Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning.

More Indigenous Teachers initiative

The More Indigenous Teachers initiative aims to address some of the challenges of recruiting and retaining quality teaching staff for remote communities by assisting Indigenous Territorians to become teachers in the Territory and encouraging Indigenous students to consider a career in teaching.
