Baniyala Garrangali School is situated in the Homeland Community of Baniyala 200km south of Nhulunbuy in North East Arnhemland. The school has an enrolment of 50-60, with students ranging from Preschool through to Year 12. All students come from a language background other than English. The Baniyala Community has strong Yolngu Governance with community leaders involved in decision making at the school. Responsibilities of the work unit include providing a teaching and learning program for all students, reporting to parents, building community relations, liaising with appropriate agencies, implementing strategies and targets in line with agreed NT and national targets to increase attendance, retention and student outcomes for students.
