Teachers are required for schools in Indigenous communities which may cater early childhood, primary and secondary students (depending on the school/location).

Canteen Creek School, also known as Owairtilla School, is located in the community of Owairtilla and is approximately 230km south east of Tennant Creek, via Kurundi and Epenarra stations. The community was established in the 1980s and the population fluctuates between 200 and 300. The community is accessible via road (4WD recommended), however can become inaccessible during the wet season due to flooding. Owairtilla can also be accessed via air through chartered air services. Canteen Creek School is a stand-alone school in the Barkly region. It offers a preschool to senior secondary education pathway. The school also offers vocational education and training programs as well as an active after school program.
